Homosapiens have been proud of a lot of things from Tesla coil to Poetry or Tom&Jerry. And all of them came to life only due to what we as humans value totally highly~Intelligence.

Some consider it as a trait like weight, height etcetera but when it comes to defining it then things get a little cranky.

What actually is Intelligence then?

In layman terms intelligence is the ability to understand, think and solve problems of life. For a being it may include

  • Finding proper shelter & food.
  • Tackling sexual competitors
  • Wooing away from predators

And these activities include being creative, strategising and implementing and hence they manifest from varied behaviours of organism.

Even scientist’s don’t agree with one-another on intelligence and “what comprises it” but still i’ll go on with my views regarding it because i may not be a scientist but i too fall in the group of the “Disagreement” ( :-\ )and share the same.

Basic parts of human intelligence can be termed as :-

1) INFORMATION

It’s the basis of action for all living things and without it you’re at the mercy of other beings in the surroundings. It comprises of senses like touch, see, feel, hear which are required to gather info of the world. Though it’s salient but it will be productive only if we’re able to store it and that brings us to our next tool.

2) MEMORY

Memory is essential so that us as living beings don’t have to start everything from scratch every single time we pursue anything. It can consist of events, place, association or even behaviours. For instance- Flying as an activity needs to be repeated again&again till mastered and which we call as learning.

3) LEARNING

The process of putting together a thought of sequence and actions basically a string of behaviours that can be varied and adapted make up learning. We have been knowing it “Practise make you perfect” ~its essence is learning over time only.

These three tools enable seemingly stupid creatures to act in extremely intelligent ways for example – Acellular slime ball which is basically a huge slimy cell shows similar behaviour like an animal with a brain as when put in a maze with food at one end the slime mould explores its surroundings and marks its path with slime trails and as it continues to explore it avoids the earlier marked ways and gets to food.

Another scientific evidence is a click away.

And you can have it as a pet too. :)

So basically it adapts to the behaviour to save time and effort and this behaviour has been agreed by the scientists to be a sign of Intelligence.
